Community Care

community care

The Community Care Group has been operating for more than 50 years and co-ordinates projects that provide financial or other practical assistance for community needs.

The generosity of church folk enabled us to pack and distribute Christmas food hampers to 40 local needy families. We continued the weekly Fill the Basket Appeal, providing our congregation with the opportunity to make food donations to be directed to local needy families – some of which was used to make up the Emergency Food Bags which are offered by our Pastors to people who present themselves at the Church seeking urgent assistance. A special effort in July also allowed us, using mostly food donations, to make up Winter Warmer hampers for local needy families.

The Community Care Group is committed to support asylum seekers in our community with financial support directed to Lentara to be used primarily for the payment of rent, utility bills and monthly living allowances, to pay for food and other essentials for asylum seeker families. Further support is provided from our congregation for the Christmas and Winter Hamper appeals.

Note: Community Care falls under the umbrella of Ashburton Baptist Community Services Inc. (i.e. ‘ABCSI’) - a not for profit public benevolent organisation with charity status. If you would like to know more about the Community Care Group, please contact the church office.
