WellSpring Centre

WellSpring draws on contemplative Christian traditions to invite people towards a deepening awareness of the Divine in everyday life. Through WellSpring we support the formation of all people in the following ways:

  • contemplative prayer: each week on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon and Fridays at 11am. On Mondays we focus on our nation at this crucial time of decisionmaking, and on Fridays we follow the format of the World Community for Christian meditation.
  • retreats in different styles (for example, silent retreats, art and poetry-based retreats) and of varying lengths (from a few hours to week-long)
  • the Building Bridges program: interfaith dialogue in schools
  • training people to become spiritual companions in a University of Divinity and AECSD accredited formation program.

A group of energetic, faithful and visionary people – from Ashburton Baptist and other faith communities – brought WellSpring into being in 1993 and it continues to offer rich opportunities for listening for the stirrings of God in and around us. The WellSpring Centre – the meeting spaces, prayer rooms, chapel and gardens on the northern side of the church – provides a beautiful, peaceful space for contemplation and prayer.

Gifts for the support of WellSpring are appreciated. See our Giving page for more information.
