Exciting New Role to Strengthen Our Community Connections

ABCSI to Appoint Community Engagement Coordinator

We are thrilled to announce a significant step forward in our mission to serve our local community. The ABC Leadership Team and Ashburton Baptist Community Services Inc. (ABCSI) are proposing to create a new part-time Community Engagement Coordinator position that will help us identify and respond to the needs of our neighbours in Boroondara and Monash.

This initiative directly supports our church's priority focus on "Community Connections" and represents our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us. The role will be funded through the generous support of a church member who shares our vision for community impact.

How This Position Will Make a Difference

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the ABCSI Board to:

  • Conduct thorough community needs assessments to identify where we can best serve

  • Develop strategic plans for effective local outreach

  • Build partnerships with local organisations and other churches

  • Design and implement community service initiatives

  • Coordinate volunteers and resources to maximize our impact

This position embodies our church's mission to express Christian care through charitable activities, particularly focusing on relieving poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, and disability in our community.

Moving Forward Together

Next week we will begin an open process to find the most qualified candidate for this important role. The job will be posted on Christian Jobs, our website and social media and shared across BUV churches and agencies. Please share with people you know who might be interested.

The Discernment Group who will consider potential appointees is Katrina Lambert, Meg Watts and Maurice Robson.

We believe this position will help us continue to build on our rich history of community engagement that makes a lasting difference. By dedicating specific resources to this area, we're taking a significant step toward fulfilling our calling to be the hands and feet of Christ in our local area.

We invite you to pray for this initiative and for the person God is preparing to fill this role. If you would like to learn more about this position, please contact Katrina Lambert.

We look forward to building on the great work ABSCI and ABC are doing in our community!
