Community Engagement Coordinator

Ashburton Baptist Community Services Incorporated (ABCSI) is seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to join our team as a Community Engagement Coordinator. ABCSI is an initiative of Ashburton Baptist Church.

Position Details:

  • Type: Part-time, 2 days per week (12-month period)

  • Location: Ashburton Baptist Church, 8 Y Street, Ashburton VIC 3147

About Us:

ABCSI is an incorporated association dedicated to providing relief to people experiencing poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability, or helplessness in the cities of Boroondara and Monash. We mobilise the gifts and talents of members from Ashburton Baptist Church, other churches, and people of goodwill in our local community to make a meaningful difference.

Role Overview:

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will lead efforts to identify needs within our local community and develop strategic responses to address these needs. You'll either implement direct services or establish partnerships with other churches and community organisations to create lasting positive impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct community needs assessments through research, surveys, interviews, and community forums

  2. Develop a strategic plan for community engagement aligned with our church's mission and values

  3. Establish and nurture relationships with local organisations, faith communities, and government agencies

  4. Design, coordinate, and evaluate community outreach initiatives and service programs

  5. Recruit, train, and coordinate church volunteers for community service opportunities

  6. Represent ABCSI at community meetings and events

  7. Manage allocated budget resources and identify potential funding opportunities
